I welcome you to this great temple of learning: Guru Teg Bahadur National College Dakha. Named after the ninth guru, this college follows the path shown by the great gurus of tolerance, patience and equality. The college was founded by Baba Jiwa Singh Ji a philanthropist of Dakha village who despite himself being illiterate envisioned an institution of higher learning for students of this area so that they do not have to travel to far off places. He donated his entire movable and immovable property for the cause of the institution. Various eminent personalities of the area such as General Sant Singh, Major Bachittar Singh, S. Joginder Singh PP, Master Harbhajan Singh, Jathedar Gurdev Singh and Colonel Santokh Singh joined him to establish the college in 1971. Later on Brig. Gurkirpal Singh, S. Sher Singh Sekhon (IRS) and S Kuldeep Singh provided leadership and guidance.
Today this college affiliated to Panjab University Chandigarh has completed 46 years of glorious journey. During this period the college has got affiliation for various courses such as B.A., B.Com. M.A. in Punjabi and History and M.Com. The college has also opened M.A. Sociology. The college is recognized by University Grants Commission under Section 12 (b) and 2 (f). Recently the college also volunteered to get itself accredited by NAAC.
Through these years the college has produced thousands of students who have excelled in various walks of life. The college has a rich tradition of excellence in academics and co-curricular activities.
